ILLUSTRATIONS of SCIENCE
A good storytelling, visual communication and understanding of scientific messages are the ingredients for a great illustration of science. They build up scientific metaphors used to depict research achievements, ideas or programs. A good editorial illustration, be it more or less abstract, has the potential to relate with the reader and make it engage with the scientific story – it brings a different quality on the memory spark formed.
I have most fun producing this type of illustrations. Exploring different metaphors, different styles, even different tools and materials. It’s a bit like being in the playground. Seeing them being sent along with press releases and appearing on the news, or preparing them to give that punch of artistic mood to a annual report is always a highlight of my work. I believe that many of these illustrations also become a highlight in the way science outreach creates bounds with the general public.
